As a photographer, I always notice when a wedding feels connected to the place where it’s happening. Some weddings could take place anywhere. Others feel like they belong exactly where they are. Sarah and Dimitri’s early June Wedding at the Old Courthouse in downtown Cleveland was one of those days.
The city was already buzzing as the annual Pride Festival filled the streets with music, laughter, and celebration. While thousands gathered outside, another celebration was quietly unfolding inside the Old Courthouse —one centered on two people beginning their next chapter together.
One of my favorite moments happened with the bride and groom before the ceremony ever began.
Sarah and Dimitri chose to have their first look outside, and just as they saw each other for the first time, the festival crowd noticed what was happening. Before long, cheers echoed through the streets. Complete strangers applauded, smiled, and celebrated alongside them. It was such an unexpected gift—a reminder that love has a way of bringing people together, even if only for a moment.
It was one of those memories that couldn’t have been planned, but somehow became one of the most unforgettable parts of the day.
Stepping inside the Old Courthouse felt like entering an entirely different world.
The historic architecture is breathtaking on its own, which is one of the reasons so many couples choose to have their wedding at the Old Courthouse. The soaring ceilings, elegant details, and timeless character make the space feel both grand and welcoming.
For this wedding, the room was transformed into something even more memorable.
Olive green draping softened the architecture and created an atmosphere that felt warm, romantic, and almost ethereal. Every table featured unique linens and beautifully layered place settings that elevated the space without overwhelming it. Classic blue and white flower arrangements sprinkled with greenery anchored the decor in a soft and romantic feeling. The reception truly felt like an elegant ballroom tucked inside one of Cleveland’s most iconic buildings.

Every detail worked together effortlessly, creating a design that felt timeless rather than trendy.
The couple embraced that same classic style.
Sarah wore a lace gown with a sweetheart neckline, delicate off-the-shoulder lace detailing, and a cathedral veil that floated beautifully behind her throughout the day. Wearing her hair down kept her look timeless and elegant from beginning to end.
Dimitri wore a classic black tuxedo that perfectly complemented both the bride and the historic surroundings.
Their wedding party added another thoughtful layer of color. The bridesmaids wore mismatched dresses in shades of blue and a rich olive green, creating beautiful dimension while tying seamlessly into the reception design and floral palette.
As beautiful as every detail was, what I’ll remember most isn’t the décor or even the stunning setting.
It’s the feeling.
The excitement of downtown Cleveland during Pride Festival. The quiet anticipation before the first look. The cheers from complete strangers celebrating a love story they had never met. Then walking into the calm elegance of the Old Courthouse wedding reception, where family and friends gathered beneath soaring ceilings to celebrate the beginning of a new chapter.
It’s amazing how one day could hold both so much energy and so much peace.
That’s what made this wedding so unforgettable.
The beauty of the Old Courthouse in Downtown Cleveland certainly created an incredible backdrop, but it was the people—and the moments they shared—that brought the space to life. Long after the flowers have faded and the music has ended, those are the memories that become part of a family’s story.
