From the very beginning of their engagement session in Chagrin Falls, Laura and Kevin had this quiet ease between them. Some couples make you feel like you’ve known them for years, even when you’re meeting them for the first time. Laura and Kevin were exactly that way.
They had the kind of connection that doesn’t need to be announced because you can simply see it. The little smiles they shared, the way they naturally leaned toward each other, the way conversation seemed to flow without effort. It felt like spending cherished time with two people who truly enjoy being together.
Laura arrived wearing the most beautiful summery white maxi dress, and it fit the feeling of the evening perfectly. It was soft, effortless, and classic. Kevin complimented her look beautifully in a navy suit, creating that perfect balance of relaxed summer romance and timeless elegance.
One of my favorite things about engagement sessions is that they give couples space to simply be together before the wedding day arrives. There’s no timeline to follow, no guests waiting, no big moments to rush through. It’s just the two of them, enjoying this season of life where they are beginning to imagine everything that is ahead.
Lola’s in Chagrin Falls was such a beautiful place to begin their session. This charming French-inspired cafe has the sweetest atmosphere, with cozy details, warm tones, and a feeling that invites you to slow down and stay awhile. Walking through the doors almost felt like being transported to a little cafe tucked away on the streets of Paris — the kind of place where you could imagine lingering over coffee, sharing stories, and watching the world pass by.
There was something so fitting about photographing Laura and Kevin there. The romance and charm of Lola’s paired so naturally with their connection. Nothing about their relationship felt forced or overly posed. It was just two people who genuinely enjoy each other’s company, soaking in an evening together.
I loved shooting this engagement session in Chagrin Falls. There’s something so special about this little corner of Ohio. The tree-lined streets, historic buildings, and peaceful feeling make it the kind of place where memories naturally unfold.
As a wedding photographer and a mom, I often think about how quickly time moves and how someday these photographs will be more than just images from an engagement session. They’ll be reminders of who Laura and Kevin were at the beginning of their story — young, excited, and completely in love with the person standing beside them.
It’s moments like this that make me love what I do.
Because every wedding story begins somewhere. Sometimes it begins with a question, a promise, or an evening spent at a charming cafe in Chagrin Falls together — capturing the quiet joy of two people choosing each other.
