Kaitlin and Matt’s wedding day felt like the kind of spring day you hope for all year—the sun was out, the air was soft, and everything was just starting to turn that fresh, vibrant green again. We began with a classic church ceremony and ended at the iconic Truss Event Venue overlooking the Cleveland skyline. It was the kind of day where being outside feels like part of the celebration.
One of my favorite moments from the morning was seeing Kaitlin step into her dress. It was such a classic look—a sweetheart neckline with a cathedral veil that moved so effortlessly behind her. There’s something about a timeless dress like that, especially paired with soft white and green florals, that never goes out of style. It felt simple in the best way.
The bridesmaids wore sage green, which blended so naturally with the season. I always notice how colors either compete with a day or quietly support it, and this palette did exactly that. Everything felt cohesive without ever feeling overdone.
Their ceremony at University Circle Methodist in Cleveland had such a meaningful, grounded feel to it. It’s one of those spaces where you can almost feel the weight of the moment as it’s happening—in a way that reminds you this is the beginning of something lasting.
And then the trolley.
Using a trolley for transportation made for such a lighthearted chance to relax and be together between moments, and it gave us some of the most iconic photos from the day.
When we arrived at Truss Event Venue for the reception, the entire feel of the day shifted in the best way. The space is so clean and modern, and creates this really intentional backdrop that lets everything else stand out—the people, the emotion, the details, and the view!
I especially loved how Katilin and Matt’s classic green and white palette played against the modern interior. The florals felt even softer, the candlelight warmer, and every detail had room to breathe. Truss Event Venue is one of those spaces where nothing competes for attention, which makes such a difference.
And the terrace… it’s always one of my favorite parts of photographing receptions at Truss. Not only do you get the most memorable cocktail hour with the Cleveland skyline stretching behind you, but you continue to enjoy it throughout the night. Between golden hour, the always stunning sunset or just taking a few quiet moments to capture your newlywed bliss in the soft evening light. It feels both expansive and intimate at the same time.
From a photography perspective, a wedding reception at Truss is such a dream. The natural light, the open layout, the contrast between indoor and outdoor spaces—it all flows so easily and gives so much variety without ever needing to force anything. It allows the story of the day to unfold naturally, which is always what I’m hoping for.
As a mom now, I always find myself noticing the way families look at each other on a wedding day—the pride, the emotion, the small glances that say everything without words. There were so many of those moments woven throughout their day.
Between the perfect spring weather, the classic church ceremony and the iconic skyline backdrop at Truss Event Venue – it was truly a picture perfect day.
